Schmetz Super Universal Needles have a special non stick layer made from Nickel-Phosphorusr-PFTE or: TEFLON. This layer prevents glue residue from sticking to your needle and therefore it prevents thread breakage.
Tip from the manufacturer: It's normal for needles with non stick coating to become lighter from sewing over time. This does not affect the anti adhesive properties.
With very light colored fabrics we recommend "sewing in the needle" on leftover fabric for about 1 m before using it for the first time
Another advantage of the Super Universal Sewingmachine needle: the larger needle eye! It's eye is bigger than with normal needles but not as big as the topstitching needles eye.
The shape of the needle is also special, the hollow on the back and the specially designed eye prevent springstitches. And the needles point is slightly rounded which means it can be used for many different fabrics. It's called Universal for a reason!
