TIP: a needle has a lifespan of 8 hours, after which the tip is worn out.

This does not mean that you need to reaplace the needle after a day. Think of it this way: when you engage the footpedal of your machine and keep it operating for 8 hours straight, the needle needs to be replaced.
The easiest way to keep track of that is to replace the needle when you start a new project.
